Twice Told Tales

Letter to the editor published in today’s Nashua Telegraph:

I was disheartened to read about the September 19th Nashua Board of Education’s decision to privatize unionized custodians. There may be grievances with the union or its membership that I’m not aware of, but it is sad for a city of Nashua’s strength that the board is running out of options to make reductions and so has come to an expectation of substantial savings by removing school custodians from service to the city.  I regret that Nashua embarrasses its school children by relegating janitors’ personal hardship as a sacrifice necessary for their best interests.
