Gary married Linda at Island Pond
their minister had relocated there
Island Pond Vermont 
the train station standing still
vacation houses for sale 
the church up the hill
the lake the pond and
gazebo music summer nights.
Some of Gary’s kids disapproved of the union
Christian remarriage is anathema but
all Gary’s kids attended his funeral with
spouses and carloads of grandchildren.
Donna Gary’s first wife had visited him at hospice 
and Linda of course was at the funeral. 
It was a happy day for the wedding and
after learning the Island Pond area
I camped there with friends along the years
tenting at Brighton State Park
campfires and six packs of beer
clarion loons and their lonely calling
a canoe on the pond 
thick fog of the morning.
