Mom said Dr. Webb is her favorite 
he always finds something wrong with her.
It’s frustrating at the mechanic’s without the noise
whir chirp or rubbing sound.
She was maddened by scheduling
a car repair appointment
waiting room waiting
if subsequently he comes up empty
with no suggestion.
Dr. Webb never let her leave annoyed
he would prescribe reasonable medication 
and if I’m not mistaken 
he was the same physician
representing her retirement from public education
a disability pension without expiration
and the standing doctor’s order
when she was 52 or 53 years old
 to never lift something heavy.
He might have recommended stretching or strengthening 
to sustain her knee and maintain her health
but if he did I think she was satisfied
with his note excusing her from class.
