Twice Told Tales

Dante’s Inferno was quoted on a banner above Dr. Braun’s door
“Abandon all hope ye who enter here”.
He wasn’t teaching hyperbole
his office window-sill and shelves were lined with objects found
a walk along a road a bottle cap a chicken bone
significance weighed each item down.
Josef Albers’ The Interaction of Color was the subject of the class
an assignment to create Color Aid companions
an interpretation of a Rilke Orpheus poem.
Dr. Braun critiqued the class at the completion of the course
disappointed he hadn’t found dedication to the arts.
Too much then for me to understand
Dante Braun Rilke Albers and Rodin.
