Grandma’s elder sister Ethel taught art in Paterson
yielding herself for parental care
she never married nor had any trouble we knew
a loving welcoming great Aunt
retired with swollen ankles
painted still life hung on our walls and
crocheted our black afghan with bright colors.
After she passed we inherited her sewing needles
some were rare and all were quickly robbed.
I was more angry with my beautiful young wife
than I had been. It faded fast.
Now removed by a kaleidoscope spiral of decades of years.
