Twice Told Tales

Debbie and I enjoyed the poverty of Revere Beach
it was within budget
a block from diners
enough grease to stick through a nor’easter
sand, gulls, and waves were a five-minute walk
twenty-minutes to Boston on the MBTA
youth health energy and
friends to share job-search miseries
lucky as oceanfront millionaires.
It became the old world of hopes and dreams
the perfect place to remember
life is grand.
