Lower North Quebec
directionally exciting
the north shore of the St Lawrence in French
Cǒte Nord has the same meaning
sporadic dense groves of thin-waist pines
few houses
fewer shrubs
annual plants like none
I love it and riding there.
Some Newfoundland yards place flower-pots near the stoop
eastern shore pine trees reach away from the wind
don’t imagine peaches apples or azaleas there
none in Trepassey.
But there’s a glut in Nashua
New Hampshire a mellow comparison
a jungle garden
grass and flowers
mature landscaping shrubs nearly big as yards
trees like maples two hundred years old with a big fat base
pines spread thick with high rough arms in sculptured air
street canopies overhung with branches and leaves
screened porches look through trees to trees and more trees beyond
up south in summer green.
