Our admin is stationed behind a security portal
the offices inside are behind the foyer where she sits
a flat screen on the wall loops a corporate overview
the volume is low or Barbara would lose her mind
every time someone comes in or goes out again
the outside doors create a vacuum that slams her ear canals
she says it doesn’t bother her too much
the foyer was expanded recently
the head of facilities John Hopper befriended her
he helps with the phone and PC
he mans the front desk when she’s gone
if they are chatting when I arrive in the morning I say
“Good Morning John Barbara” and
constant John replies
“How are ya?”
