At the Christmas tree lot in Allston they called you Louie
you rode home in the back seat
the sunroof holding the tree

Sundays we biked to Brookline for bagels and cream cheese
you rode on the plastic back seat
your face was next to mine in the downhill breeze

Neighborhood walks around Commonwealth and Harvard
like the Sesame Street Count whose counting you admired
you counted the steps whose count never faltered.
