warm-ups for a riverside jog along the Charles
groups passing each other along the Hatch Shell path 
to BU to Harvard housing and back
the regular run in the morning sun 
summery and autumn days --
me as I imagined it.

The one time I ran it was in December's reluctant sunrise at 7 
the wind at me across the Charles River in 26 degrees
from the Sheraton Hotel to the Mass Ave bridge to the Hatch Shell and back
the other person on the path was a student running with a facemask
and a bicycle shadowing her for protection.
