Twice Told Tales

My spiritual life is a bucket of beer-bottle caps
a decade of scoring baseball games
years of laminated autumn leaves
bookcases of books
poems printed in spiral vanities
and this sequence of daily poems in chronology.
Each of these piles
significant at the time of attention
has the same sum and substance
the heapings differ by the poems
only if self-regard elucidates more
than Coors or autumn finery.
