Weeks walking to work at Waldenbooks
Monroe Avenue restaurants and shops
I owned them all partly
as passerby well-wisher status-taker 
that kind of ownership was gladdened
with the renovation of Sears downtown
brick-cleaning craftsmanship carpentry
oh a new tavern
passing by day by day noting progress
wondering when
definitely I’m in
Rosie’s 
when I went through the door
I was told in a friendly way 
Rosie’s was mostly for women and
