Twice Told Tales

At the fair with Michael and Melody
not to ride the rides
nor for an elephant ear of powdered sugar fried dough
and not for country western slide guitar.
A milky young woman pushing a baby stroller
the kind in discount stores
with a cloth seat that squeezes her kid
and wobbly 3-inch wheels
was observed by a guy in work boots and shorts
who flirts
“Hi mom!”
prompting her smile.
