Reeds and cattails are Alien food
prevalent in our soggy backyard
on Old Coach Lane
I told Lewis and Ruth
nearly all parts of cattails are edible
and reeds have food value too.
When I pass a clump of Alien food
a field or swamp
imagination succeeds.
