Twice Told Tales

Mom said I never knew dad because he was
the son of Italian immigrants
a Catholic diabetic who died in the Korean war.
When he died sixty years later
his third family found mom's obituary in an attic box
and called to see who am I.
Half-brother Daniel said dad was none of that
neither Italian nor diabetic
nor a Catholic soul in the Korean war.
Half-brother Mitch was proof he'd lived
his birthday was June '55
eight months following mine
then five attendant brothers and sisters succeeded us.
