Twice Told Tales

President George W Bush used colors
he signaled the likelihood of terrorist attacks from Saddam Hussein
and his hyped up WMDs.
The Office of Homeland Security would flash Red
if terrifyingly imminent of attack.
Orange counseled us the situation was under control.
Yellow indicated a period of rest during which we could relax.
The United States of America gave guidance for attack survival kits
and on the same day DC’s Home Depot and Lowes
sold out of duct tape and plastic sheeting to strengthen windows
and reported a run on flashlight batteries.
Softened and prepared the populace soon learned
Shock and Awe meant regime-change in Iraq.
