Billy Graham preached to ballpark crowds
he told anyone who would listen
the world abandoned God
newspapers prove it every day
morality is worsening
governments millionaires and the smartest men
can’t halt the pitch and slide toward Apocalypse
it’s the same with everyone trusting in himself
damned at birth
you’ve tried and failed
a job promotion or moving to California
finding love in marriage and loving your kids
nothing satisfies you 
but there is a way to be truly happy and content
the good news of the Holy Bible promises
the Lord Jesus Christ died to redeem us from our sins
He offers eternity with a purpose in life
accept the Lord today
his love and sacrifice.
The evangelist’s choir then sang Amazing Grace 
intoned softly at first 
it gained ruggedness and urgency as the first then
dozens 
maybe a hundred maybe more
climbed down from stadium seating to the infield
accepting the Lord.
Marveling at the crowd headed for Rev. Graham
I wondered how many answered his supplication 
more than twice
as my Aunt Alice had.
