Twice Told Tales

Living on Commonwealth Ave
working quick-start Raytheon days
out at 4 and home again
Fenway Park a downhill ride to Yaz and Rice
bikes locked free
behind the bleachers 4 bucks a seat.
Living in Amherst our Passat usually parked
$20 in the game-day McDonalds lot.
Sunday parking was free on Memorial Drive
a much longer walk
across the Harvard Bridge
through Kenmore Square and
increasing anticipation of the game
along Brookline Ave to Fenway Park.
Years later Ruth and I used Comm Ave near the Rt. 2 bridge
free parking at meters whose days were done.
The most amazing Red Sox parking was a one-timer
Comm Ave a block from Kenmore Square
an unheard of lucky position
free with closest proximity
then waiting to meet Ruth and Mike
watching them park
right there
across the street.
