The playground on Sargent Street is full of customers
grandmas toddlers and younger kids
families chatting climbing and swings
sun and overcast are played
no one’s there on rainy days
and in winter before school
her coat open in 15 degrees
a girl with long hair on a swing
back and forth higher higher
and it chokes me up
makes me nearly cry
something’s wrong freezing cold before school
into the porcelain sky like that.
