At night on Rt. 31
a car out of fuel on the side of the road
I gave her a ride to buy gas
she gave the plastic jug as thanks
3 decades later now as then
it leaks each pour
the nozzle threads drip onto my shoe
the garage floor
everywhere it can
plastic doesn’t age or rust
I’m stuck forever like this.
