The copper penny
no two the same
none ever
oh sure pennies in heaven before they’re born are
shiny gold and each alike
but give them air
pants pockets
crammed in a purse
a roll around the floor
or worse
tortured with a necklace drill
their hue darkens
nicks on the surface
cuts on the edge
twin coins are implausible but
used for buying and selling
their value’s identical.
