Fenway Park’s inside halls are dim subterranean
mostly for moving along
jammed by concession and toilet lines
a wall painted with a red B or an old-time photo are background for out-of-towners
kids girlfriends future moms and dads pose excitedly “I’m really here!”
then when they see the ballpark
wow
the green
the PA chatter and the unsettled crowd
the grass and green monster
scoreboards roof and loge seating bleachers and right-field boxes
the concourse a few minutes back
dark as a memory.
