Fifteen years ago I climbed through the attic
tacked new copper to the top of the dining room’s canted bay
this year Bill’s Roofing wrapped it again
several years more orange-red will oxidize dull brown
copper is in liver muscle and bone
all else the same
in 30 years my liver will be
Statue-Of-Liberty patina green.
