As my wife and I walk around the neighborhood together
she asks which way would we like to turn
I ask her preference for today
we don’t exercise our burdens
neither of us maneuvers into a discussion
we don’t hold hands or yak up a conversation
we might observe another house in relation to ours
the copper roofing
whether walkways are flagstone or brick
window toppers became a favorite last year
driveways were noticed after ours was redone
front door colors
landscaping and shrubs
if there’s another couple walking along we say hello
if there’s a dog or child my wife’s especially pleased and
when we return to our house
we agree we’ve been improved.
