Recalling Gary there I imagined sailors in striped jerseys and short-billed caps
large ships at The Lock and deck-hands rising up in the canal.
Arriving years later I saw gulls and no freighters
but then at six in the morning a ship longer than ten whales arose.
Greetings to my brother-in-law who greeted me always with peace!
