John got home somehow okay
everyone was worried
and you don’t really know
the bus     all those injured kids      waiting all night in the cold
one thing we noticed
he began turning his body away when spoken to
a concern
we discussed it and prayed about it of course
it was awkward with him looking away like that
whatever it was that was wrong 
something was keeping him away
you don’t like to say it 
he was ashamed to face us
we became anxious about his future     
about his having a wife and starting a family   
we asked John to pray with us and he did
we prayed for healing every night
one morning he woke up saying he couldn’t stand the pain 
his shoulder hurt like fire    or his neck    he wasn’t sure where
the doctor found a calcium    
it hurt whenever John would look up and he’d turn away from the stabbing twinge
physical therapy and ibuprofen got him right again
we thank the Lord for always answering our prayers.
